Evocative and addictive, the Festa dei Ceri in Gubbio takes place every year on May 15 for the eve of the feast of the patron Saint Ubaldo. The event has secular traditions and is considered an absolute event for all eugubini and not only. The "Ceri" are three gigantic wooden structures weighing about four quintals each, surmounted by statues of Saint Ubaldo, San Giorgio and Saint Antonio, that are carried on the shoulders along the streets of the historical center up to the summit of Mount Ingino, where the basilica of the patron Saint Ubaldo stands.A path is made but most exhilarating is the rush of "ceraioli" through the streets of the city followed by an immense crowd that encourage them with enthusiasm.
